You are an Asteroid Miner on a mission to liberate the Asteroid Belts from the Protectorate Battle Ships!

Objectives

  • Control your space craft to navigate near the Asteroids. Keep a low profile to avoid being detected by the Battle Ship's Turret systems.
  • Use your Mining Beam to mine asteroids for resources to recharge your Fuel and Ammo.
  • Once ready, use your craft's Guns to take out the Turrets one by one.
  • Keep an eye out on the Fuel, Health and Ammo indicators.
  • If you run out of fuel, your craft will be immobile and start loosing life support(Health) until you mine and get fuel resource or die. Not to mention you will be a sitting duck for the Turrets.
  • Destroying all Turrets(without dying ofc) Wins the game!

Controls (Keyboard & Mouse)

PS: After pressing "START" please wait for a while, the game is NOT frozen usually!

  • Mouse Look - Point space craft in any direction. Hold X for Free View.
  • Mouse Left Click - Shoot Gun. Consumes Ammo!
  • Mouse Right Click - Mining Beam. Beam should touch Asteroids for mining to work! 
  • W/S/A/D - Forward/Back/Left/Right craft movement.
  • Spacebar/AltLeft - Up/Down strafe movement.
  • ShiftLeft - Boost for faster movement. Uses more Fuel!
  • ESC - Pause Menu. If playing in browser click the Resume button for mouse lock to work!
  • Tab - Lock/Unlock Mouse.

  • 120fps(v-sync) on Mac (MBP M2).
  • 45-50fps on Windows (GTX 1060 3GB). (80-100fps in smaller window size).

"Miner's Mission" was born during Bevy Jam 4, around the theme of "That's a LOT of Entities!".
The Asteroid Belt is procedurally generated with each Asteroid being its own Entity. Plus there are a Lot of Projectile Entities while shooting. Also mining spawns resource Particles that are also Entities. Thus a game with a LOT of Entities and that too with Physics!

Install instructions

For Windows

Install via Installer *.msi file

Download the *windows.msi file. Double click to run and install. Ignore the virus warning. Its scanned via Avast and is perfectly safe. Open it from Start Menu -> Search: "Miner's Mission"

OR run the *.exe file

Download the *windows.zip file and extract it wherever you want to install. Double click and run `miners_mission.exe` . Ignore virus warning as its safe and scanned via antivirus.

For MacOS

Download the *macOS.dmg file. Mount the DMG, RightClick -> Open the "Miner's Mission" game. You might have to right click and open twice before it stops showing you the warning and shows the "Open" button under "Are you sure you want to open it?". Click that and the game will start.

For Linux

Download the *linux.tar.gz file. Extract all files and Run the `miners_mission` executable.

actually very interesting concept, with some graphics and some more mechanics this could be very interesting to play

I was falling short on time. I’m planning to improve the visuals with better textures/shaders/models, sound effects, more procedurally generated levels and ofc mechanics. Stay tuned!
